The team also is interested, to a lesser degree, in free agent guard Larry Hughes. ![]() After making an inquiry on Zydrunas Ilgauskas, the Celtics [team stats] now are looking into whether Michael Finley might be interested in joining the club. "There is no truth to either one of those," Ainge said. "I have had conversations with a lot of teams but those have never been discussed. There are a lot of things I would like to do but I don't feel a need to do something. I am always looking to upgrade the team, if possible." Steve Bulpett / Celtics NotebookWASHINGTON - For what it’s worth, Danny Ainge seemed genuinely perplexed yesterday at further reports the Celtics are trying to trade Ray Allen. That is why they waived Lester Hudson Wednesday afternoon, opening a roster spot, just hours before taking a 112-106 overtime win over the Miami Heat. The Celtics will doubtless add a veteran player for the playoff run, though president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said no deal is imminent. ![]() Gary Washburn Celtics principal owner Wyc Grousbeck said the Celtics will stand pat with their roster and wait until Paul Pierce gets healthy. He said the team will not make any drastic roster changes as a reaction to Pierce's knee injury. ![]() Mark Murphy Rajon Rondo took two shots last night and hit one for two points. But forget about Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Marc J. Spears - Globe StaffAlthough New York and Phoenix can offer more money, the agent for free agent Grant Hill says the Celtics are still in the mix for his client’s services. |
